One thing you should never do is never give out your email address to just anyone. By giving out your email address on the fly, you can be opening up your inbox to spam heaven.

Sometimes even if you sign up for something that looks alright, this can be the thing that does your email in.

Some companies do sell email addresses after you sign up with them If you want to give out your email address and sign up for a news letter, make sure you find the privacy policy on the companies website.

A good legitimate company will never hide their policy towards spam or privacy. These days most companies will state them right on the email form.

You can also use a second email address when signing up for newsletter. This way, if you do start to get spam you can always cancel with the email service and keep your first email address.

If you ever get an instant message for the yahoo messenger service, that states send back your email address, you can bet it's a spam message.

Delete the message and move on. If you don't remember talking to that person, don't reply.

If you do start to get a fair amount of yahoo email spam, you can always set your junk mail filter higher.

Go to your bulk email options an elect to have your spam filter set higher. You will see the setting right at the top after you enter your bulk email folder.

Click settings and you will see the spam settings. Spam guard is set on by default. If it is off for some reason you will need to turn it on. Just click turn spam guard on.

You can also set images to not show when you read emails. This provides extra security when viewing emails.

Yahoo email spam does happen. If you find your inbox getting full, turn on the spam filter and delete the bulk mail folder when you want.
