Windows XP clean install

To perform a windows xp clean install you have to make sure you reformat windows.  There are a couple of reasons for doing a clean install.

Your computer may have had a virus or your computer was getting errors.  Either way it is a good idea to perform a clean install to restore your computer back to normal.

One thing you may want to consider before you perform a windows xp clean install is to completely wipe your hard drive.  Drives still keep data on them even when you reformat windows.  If you had a virus and that is the reason for the re-install of windows then it is possible some of the virus data could still be on the drive.

One program you can use to completely wipe your drive free of errors is Nuke boot disk.  Once you perform this wipe your disk should be completely clean and you can go ahead with the windows xp clean install.

To perform the windows xp clean install you will need your windows disk or your boot disk that came with your computer.

If you are not sure what to do here, you can call the manufacturer of your computer and they will walk you through a clean install provided your computer is still under warranty.

If you have a windows disk, just go and use that.  You will need to go into the computer bios and set the cd rom to boot fist so the computer will boot the windows cd.

Once you do this you can restart the computer and perform the windows xp clean install.

Follow the instructions on the screen and make sure you format the drive.  Choose the full reformat option to allow the drive to be whipped clean once again.

After this just allow the windows disk to perform the windows xp clean install and follow any instructions on the screen.

You will need to choose things like computer name, networking options and so on.

After this is done all you need to do is reactivate windows and you have performed a windows xp clean install.
