Internet scams

Internet scams can come in the form of email or right on the web.

They can also come in many different formats.  The internet is infested today with scam artist all trying to steal your information or money.

Not to mention the seemingly legitimate scammers selling things.

The internet is a breeding ground for crime sometimes.  With email and web surfing it makes it almost too easy for these scammers to prey upon the unsuspecting.

There are ways to protect yourself and most are pretty easy and just plain simple common sense.  However you must know what to look for.

Mostly these scam people send out emails to many computer users all over.

They range from scams about winning the lottery, needing your pay pal information, questions from eBay buyers, Instant messaging scams, Woman wanting men scams, needing money for a dying relative and on and on.

Being on the internet is a very personal experience but can also become very addictive for some people.

It is being so personal which can make many scams seem to work.  It goes like this:  You just got a new computer and have been using it for about month.

You love to come home from work and surf the net.  You log on one day and decide to check your email.

And low and behold there is an email stating you have won the lottery in some overseas country.  So you decide to check it out and may even wonder about it.

It is at this point where it becomes very dangerous because you are all alone at your computer with no one to guide you.  So you decide to click reply and send some information.

First of all, use this general rule of thumb.  If you don’t know who the email came from you don’t need to reply back with anything.

In other words, if it wasn’t from your family or friends then it’s either spam or a scam.

Internet scams can also take on the form of a legitimate looking work from home opportunities.  People have been known to give thousands to companies with big promises of big cash.

It can also be online gambling.  If you are in the United States online gambling is illegal, however many people still play.

Even if it seems it is a legitimate online casino many of these are located overseas somewhere.  The problem is after you quit, some of these casinos have been known to still charge your credit card.

Instant messaging can also be used for scamming.  A lot of men or woman will receive and instant message stating they were talking with someone and asked if they remember them and to email them so they can talk more.

These scams are usually harmless, however you will be opening up your email to spam.

Major company’s names have been used in many of these scams.  From pay pal to eBay.

The scammers keep on developing new scams all the time.  Scams go way back in history; however the internet makes them easy for these bad people.  They can send out thousands of emails within minutes these days.

Just remember Do Not open any emails with attachments and never reply back to anyone with any information what so ever unless you do in fact know them.

Even then you need to understand that email is not secure and just about anything you do online can be tracked or traced.

Internet crime is on the rise.  Make sure you do not fall victim to any internet scams.
