First of all it against eBay rules to email
sellers outside of eBay. However a lot of people selling
there
do not know this. They then fall for whatever the scam artist
has up their sleeve.
A scam also on eBay can be where someone
may buy something you have very cheap.
They then report how badly you were
and give you a bad rating. If someone gives you a bad rating,
first of all do not panic.
Calmly check around to see if this person
is giving everyone bad ratings. If you find they are, contact
eBay about what you found.
Another simple scam can be where someone
will again email you out of eBay and ask you to send your
product to them first so they can check it out.
Do not do this. This is usually someone
who wants what you have but will never pay you. Oddly enough,
people have fallen victim to this scam.
These people use fake addresses that are
close to where they live. They then can gain access to what you
sent them and you never hear from them again.
Other types of scams include the selling of
signed baseballs that are supposed to be signed by a famous
baseball player, when in fact they are not.
Or, sometimes hucksters just sell plain bad
or fake merchandise. As a general rule of thumb, never buy
anything over the computer that is worth a lot of money and
suppose to be an original of something.
Stick to buying signed baseballs and things
in person.
Scams can and do run rampant on eBay. However if you use a
little common sense, you will not get burnt by ebay scams.
