Finding your computer ip address will be easy. Inside
the dos prompt box you will see the C;/ prompt. It is at this prompt where
you can type commands that dos will understand.
At the C:/ prompt all you have to do is type in the
command “ipconfig” without the quotes and you will be able to see your
computer ip address.
This command will also list the default gateway and the
subnet mask for your computer and network.
You will also see the your connection dns suffix. This
is usually the name your isp will give your connection to the internet.
One thing you have to remember is that your computer ip address
is visible to the rest of the internet world. This is one reason why it is
so important to get a router for your computer.
Although a router will not completely protect from
showing your ip address it will protect it enough from hackers trying to
hack into your computer.
The only real way to protect your ip address is to use
a proxy server. However most proxy servers on the internet are slow and
really not that secure to use.
If the proxy server is in another country, it may be
showing your computer ip address to the person hosting the proxy server.
