Blue screen of
death

The blue screen of death is the dreaded screen you
get when windows crashes.
This mostly happened in the earlier versions of
Microsoft windows like windows 98 and ME. However it can still happen
in Windows 2000 and XP just not as often.
The blue
screen of death happened for various reasons in windows. |
One of the biggest reasons was from
memory problems. Badly
written programs or device drivers caused a host of problems with memory.
Usually the higher upper memory area was visited by two programs at the same
time which caused conflicts in windows. Then the computer would crash with the
blue screen.
A blue screen can also happen
because of a virus. If you
continue to get a blue screen but you can still load windows you may want to try
a virus scan? Make sure you have updated anti virus software and then run a
scan looking for any viruses.
Another thing you will want to do if you keep getting the
same error message is to take not of the exact message that shows up on the
screen.
It is usually a hexadecimal code with 1’s and 0’s. With
this code you can then search the Microsoft website for the exact message you
are receiving and find some advice on what you can do to correct the problem.
If you take your computer to a computer technician this
error message code will also be helpful for them to fix your computer problems.
The blue screen of death can be a very frustrating
experience. Especially if it keeps on happening. Sometimes you are left having
to reload windows. However this is sometimes only the last option you have.
Hardware can also cause blue screens to happen. Faulty
hardware that was either installed improperly or was maybe damaged by static
electricity could cause a whole host of computer problems.
If this is the case you may need to pull some of your
hardware out of the computer and have it tested.
Another thing to look for is what we talked about above.
Sometimes you can have a faulty or badly written device driver that is the
culprit.
Things to try with this are, see if the manufacturer of the
hardware offers another device driver. You can always go to their website and
search their tech files for another driver to avoid the blue screen of death.
If you do not find another driver you may want to report it
to their tech support department as soon as you can. Doing so will help
eliminate problems in the future and allow them to write another driver.
The blue screen of
death can be hard to diagnose sometimes. You may want to read some of our other
articles to help with this problem.
